Who We Are
Cicada Woodworks was born with the vision of delivering meticulously built projects for clients from all walks of life. The motivation we have to deliver top-quality builds comes not from a desire to succeed financially, but from a love for carpentry, and for enjoyable spaces indoors and out.
Dan Smith, founder of Cicada, has worked as a carpenter for nearly two decades. He uses his knowledge and experience to ensure the highest craftsmanship using the best techniques and material for the job. He enjoys the challenges that every project brings, as well as working with other tradespeople to deliver on a variety of projects.
What We Do
Cozy, versatile, and functional spaces are our specialty. We love working with our clients to dream, design, and build exactly what they need, capturing their vision - within their budget.
Why Cicada?
Our business is small, and we thrive on the satisfaction of our clients and the success of each of our projects. We shop locally for our material, and are invested in our community here in Waterloo and everywhere we travel within the region.
We don't have a large payroll, nor do we have a fleet of vehicles throughout the province. This means that we can deliver top-quality results, without the price tag you might expect from bigger companies.
Moreover, it means that the profit we earn is spent on feeding our families, on our children's extra-curriculars, and the things we need day to day.
